Description

Join Professor Jeffrey Carman for a walking tour of this fascinating location nestled on a hillside in the Cedarpines Park area.   The Mozumdar Temple was once owned by an Indian-born spiritual leader Akhay Kumar Mozumdar. Mozumdar, whose name means “Son of God” was born in 1864 in India. He was once a powerful teacher, lecturer, and writer of the New Thought Movement in the U.S. in the early to mid 1900’s. He began construction of the temple and an adjoining camp, but was not able to complete the temple before he died. After his death the property was sold to the YMCA and then to the Unification church of Rev. Sun Myung Moon. The Rim of the World Historical Society is fortunate to arrange a annual tour of the location.
